If the birthday dinner at Rudy's for BBQ didn't tip you off, then you should know that Carlie is a natural born Texan. We went to the rodeo last night and she loved it! I could tell she was hoping for a pony ride, but she's too little. But, oh how she loved the petting zoo. She was laughing with delight the entire time.

Maybe she's not so much of a Texan as just an animal lover - cooked or not!

Garret's highlight might have been the dragon ride at the carnival. He was really excited about it beforehand, but it was probably the wildest ride he has ever been on. I'm not sure if he knew what to think after.

Here we are, waiting for the swine sprints!

On a side note, here's what you have been missing at the Hayden household: cleaned out the garage and the yard, grew some peas in the garden which actually might work this year, went ice skating for a birthday party, took Garrett to a hockey lesson, watched Carlie learn how to walk, saw Nate's cousin play at a bar downtown during SXSW, ripped out drywall in the kitchen for a new backsplash, gave Carlie her first haircut. Tried to write a blog about anything but Carlie. Nada.

I just finished our 2009 year in review video! What a great year! I had a bit of challenge trying not to overlap too much with the Carlie video, so this one might be a bit Garrett heavy. But it's a good watch!

PS. No, you didn't miss 2008, Nate is working on that one and he doesn't have the buckets of spare time that we stay at home Mom's enjoy. ;)

So tell me what you think. I am actually contemplating doing this on the side for other people. This video took me over 12 hours to make and I can't imagine charging people enough to make it worth my time, but the hardest part is sorting through videos and pictures. So if they do it themselves, that will save at least half the time. At any rate, if you'd like me to put together a video for you, let me know. If I have time, I could use the practice!

You know when you're with a group of friends and you say, "Oh we should do such and such." "Yeah, that's a good idea!" and then nothing ever happens?

Well this time we scheduled the day and made it happen!  Today a group of friends all went up to the Waco Zoo aka the closest good zoo. It was a lot of fun and the weather was absolutely perfect. We don't get this perfect weather for too long, so I'm really glad we were able to enjoy it! Plus, Carlie is finally at a good age for day trips. And Garrett's going to start school in a year and a half. So I really need to be taking as many fun day trips with my kids as I can!

Carlie loved the fish. She even said, "Fish." She liked to wave hello at each of the animals.

Garrett just had a blast. He ran around the whole day and only asked to sit down once, so he did good. There is a nice play area the kids had fun with at the end of the day.

We got snow! On Tuesday it snowed all day long. I would guess there was close to 3 inches at the ground at the peak. Towards the end of the day it was melting faster than it was snowing, but we made sure to go out several times to enjoy the snow. Several Texans mentioned that this was the most snow they had ever seen. So I'm a little sad that it's over now. However, I will admit it was a huge hassle to put on 4 layers of clothing anytime we wanted to go outside!

Thanks for the laundry basket idea, Lisa! You know they don't sell sleds down here!
